Jamshedpur : Summer vacations once meant extended trips to grandparents, meeting cousins and indulging in all forms of sporting activity. But the pressure of academic curriculum has now replaced the earlier joys with extra classes and tuitions, while leisure time is devoted to television.
To help children understand the importance of sports in laying the foundations of a healthy life during their summer vacations, Greenfield School is hosting a five-day summer camp at its Sonari campus.
The camp is loaded with creativity and a bunch of new ideas for kids this year, events like creativity in waste, human building activities and science projects like make the volcano were the centre of attraction today.
The kids were made to involve in physical activities like eat and run, basket the tub and score, human knot and many more.
The kids involved themselves in creative work to make summer caps, photo frame for mothers and collected some memories of the camp in making a scrap book of camp journal.
�Summer is the best time for children to take time off from the regular chore of going to school and getting down to the curriculum. So, the summer vacation is, in another way, an opportunity to horn certain life skills while having fun,� said Ekta Agarwal, principal, Greenfield School.
Some camps are also teaching canvas colouring, rice art, collage making, meditation, hand writing, T-shirt painting, recitation, extempore, block printing, making eco-friendly bags and loads of fun games. However, the games are divided according to the age groups.
