Grand Republic Day celebrations to be held at Jamshedpur’s Gopal Maidan

School children to perform patriotic songs and music at cultural evening on Jan 25

Jamshedpur: Preparations for the district-level Republic Day celebrations at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, are in full swing. A planning meeting, chaired by District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ananya Mittal, was held at the Collectorate Auditorium to ensure the success of the event scheduled for January 26, 2025.

Senior officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, Project Director ITDA Dipankar Chaudhary, ADM (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan, SDM Dhalbhum Shatabdi Majumdar, City SP Kumar Shivashish, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, along with representatives from private organizations, participated in the meeting.

Highlighting the occasion, the event will feature a parade with eight platoons, including JAP-6, three platoons of the District Police Force (including Auxiliary Police), one platoon of the District Home Guard, two platoons of NCC (men and women), and one platoon of Scouts and Guides. The parade rehearsals are scheduled from January 20 to 22, with a full-dress rehearsal on January 24 at Gopal Maidan. The final rehearsal will be jointly inspected by DC Mittal and SSP Kaushal.

A total of 11 tableaux will be showcased, with notable entries such as one depicting the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana. “This year, we aim to make the Republic Day celebrations more inclusive and representative of our district’s progress and culture,” said DC Mittal.

On the eve of Republic Day, a cultural program will be held at Town Hall, Sidgora. Schoolchildren from across the district will perform patriotic songs and musical pieces. “The cultural evening is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents and inspire the audience with patriotic fervor,” added Mittal.

To ensure smooth execution, DC Mittal directed all government buildings and offices to hoist the national flag and instructed officials to garland statues of national leaders and clean monuments of historical importance. The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will coordinate with Jusco for venue cleaning, seating arrangements, and the deployment of essential services such as ambulances and fire brigades.

Nazarat Deputy Collector David Balihar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner JNAC Krishna Kumar, District Transport Officer Dhananjay, District Welfare Officer Shankaracharya Samad, DSP CCR Bhola Prasad Singh, and other key officials attended the meeting.

DC Mittal emphasized the importance of collective effort, stating, “Republic Day is a celebration of our shared values and unity. Let’s ensure the event reflects the spirit of our district.”
