Govt to provide sanitary napkins to school girls

Jamshedpur: State health department has planned to distribute sanitary napkins among government school girls. Health department Principal Secretary Nidhi Khare has written to the Director of Medical Services in this regard and directed him to begin the napkin distribution programme as soon as possible. A fund of Rs 1.68 crore has been issued by the government to meet the expenses. The napkins would be distributed among students of class VI to class XII. A committee would be set up by the director for purchasing and distributing the napkins. Chief Minister Raghubar Das had made an announcement in this regard recently. An awareness campaign on menstruation and personal hygiene would also be launched in the government schools. In East Singhbhum, there are altogether 1953 government schools including 139 high schools.
