Governor Mumru to inaugurate Khadi Mela on Sept. 17

Jamshedpur, Sept. 12: Jharkhand State Khadi Board Chairman Sanjay Seth along with Khadi board member Kulwant Singh Bunty and others on Tuesday inspected the preparations for the upcoming Khadi Mela at Gopal Maidan from September 17 to 24. Governor Draupadi Mumru will inaugurate the mela on September 17.

The exhibition-cum-sale of khadi and village industries products will see the participation of around 300 stalls put up by artisans, craftsmen, khadi institutions and Rural Employment Generation Programme units. Artists from different parts of the country will also participate.

After inspecting the preparations, Sanjay Seth, said, the stalls will be put in which buyers can look forward for items like khadi, wood crafts, terracotta, stone crafts, handlooms, jewellery, bamboo craft, metal craft, jute and tribal paintings among other items which will be on display for sale..
The entry ticket for the mela will be Rs 10. However, entry for students coming with uniform will be free.

Seth further said that khadi had been successful in providing self-employment to a large number of people in rural areas, particularly to women, who constituted the weakest sections of society. People of Jamshedpur can look forward to unique collection of Khadi products which will be available at discount of 25 to 30 per cent, he added.
