GOJ prepared to facilitate investment in education sector: Raghubar Das

New Delhi, Aug. 5: In the era of Global economy & education & technology the world scenario is changing rapidly, said Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das.

Now students can connect worldwide with any university of repute through internet. The CM was addressing the gathering of dignitaries after inaugurating World Education Summit 2016, at Hotel Le-Meridien in Delhi.

The CM further added that The Use of latest technology has made education easier. In this techno-savvy era role of teachers has metamorphosed from guide to facilitator.

Private universities have played a pivotal role in this metamorphosis which resulted quality enhancement of vocational education. Das invited educational institutions to open private universities in Jharkhand and assured them tooth and nail support of GOJ.

Citing the global economic challenges Das outlined emerging healthy competition in the fields of business, media and education sector as well. We are in knowledge based era and without distinct we can’t grow, he added.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said that maximum use of technology brings transparency and GOJ is giving priority to technology to bring transparent governance. Government of Jharkhand believes that quality education system can boost the economic health of state, the CM added.

While informing the gathering about commencement of AMITY university classes from this session the CM invited other universities to join Jharkhand’s educational transformation and invest in education sector.

He appealed the investors to focus on investment in the field of education to enable the youth of Jharkhand to face the global economic challenges. Government of Jharkhand is inviting quality enabled universities to facilitate the young generation with job oriented courses; said Das .Government of India is also focusing on educational infra development in Jharkhand, CM added.

Outlining the causes of system failure Das said, “After commencement of economic reforms in 1991, vision changed and Indian society started focusing on education and health sectors. But despite all efforts the downtrodden couldn’t avail the benefit due to political unwillingness or some other reasons.”

He further added, “Now the time has come to change the scenario and the roots of primary or secondary education should be strengthened.” During his address the CM said that there is ample scope of investment in mines sector also.

Rajbala Verma, chief secretary ,Government of Jharkhand lauded the event of World Education Summit and said this type of event can play a pivotal role in development of strong bond between GOJ and experts working in education sector.

She hoped that by 2020 India will become the world’s third economic power due to the significant development of the middle class. On an average half of India’s population is below 25 years of age and this youth power will end the dominance of China by 2020, she added.

The CS further added that 20 universities of India secured position in global ranking among the world’s best 200 universities, in last 20 years six Indians bagged Nobel Prizes in different categories, but we lag far behind in higher education. In India, on an average only 18 percent youth get enrolled for higher education , while in China the figure is 20 percent and 36 percent in Brazil, We need to work in this direction, Verma said.

Government of India has set a target to achieve 30 percent enrolment in higher education by 2020 and for this accommodation of 40 million students in our universities is must. Quality education and infra development are also required so that we can change the scenario, she said.

Verma informed the gathering about the plan and policy of GOJ to develop Jharkhand as knowledge Hub and invited private educational institutions for investment in Jharkhand.

Ambassador of Poland, Thomas Lukasa shared the plan of investment of Polish government in Jharkhand. He said – we are seriously planning to invest in Jharkhand in the fields of education and mining.

R. Subhramanyam, additional secretary HRD, Government of India, Dr. Ravi Gupta CEO of Elets, the organizer of summit, Dr. Ravi Panchanan, CEO of Matrix, Prajodah Rajan and other dignitaries also addressed the summit.
During the summit CM, Raghubar Das was awarded for taking developmental initiatives.
