Jamshedpur: Efforts to enhance tourism in the district have gained momentum, with plans to revamp key attractions like Burudih Dam in Ghatshila and the theme park in Ghorabanda. The Burudih Dam area is set to undergo major development at a cost of Rs 35 crore, transforming it into a prime tourist destination. The Forest Department will lead the initiative, constructing attractive parks, rest houses and cottages to improve visitor experience.
Currently, the dam lacks essential facilities and boating operations remain suspended. Additionally, the park has fallen into disrepair, leading to a decline in tourist footfall. With the new development plans, the theme park in Ghorabanda will also be rejuvenated. A proposal has already been submitted to the government for approval. The park has suffered from poor maintenance and even the Laxman Jhula bridge built there has collapsed. Plans are also in place to enhance the Dharagiri waterfall in Ghatshila, making it a more attractive destination for nature lovers.
Meanwhile, an ecological park spanning 78 hectares is nearing completion in Chakulia, developed at a cost of approximately Rs 20 crore. The park is expected to be inaugurated by March 2025, offering a new recreational space for tourists. District Forest Officer (DFO) Saba Alam Ansari emphasized that full attention will be given to upgrading facilities at all these locations, ensuring they become key attractions for visitors.
