Gandhi Tola and Adi Chakradharpur bag cleanest Durga puja pandal award

Chaibasa, Oct.16: West Singhbhum district administration on Sunday organized prize distribution function for clean puja pandal competition at Pillai hall in Chaibasa as part of government’s Swachh Bharat Mission during the recently concluded Durga Puja. The Chief Guest for the function deputy commissioner Dr Shantanu Kumar Agrahori inaugurated the ceremony.

Earlier, a team was constituted to monitor the cleanliness in and around the Puja Pandals of Chaibasa and Chakradharpur and a yard scale of 1000 mark was fixed to evaluate the cleanliness in every Puja pandal. A total of 16 Puja Pandals were set up this year. A four member team headed by Sadar Chaibasa SDO Rakesh Kumar Dubey conducted inspection according to the rule decided by the administration.

From Chaibasa Gandhi Tola Puja Samiti was unanimously selected the winner and won the first place in the cleanliness scale. Pillai Hall Sri Sri Durga Puja Samiti was crowned second whereas Amla Tola Puja Samiti received the third position.

On the other hand, Adi Durga Puja Chakradharpur Samiti won the first spot followed by Bharat Bhavan Puja samiti and Utsav Puja Samiti from Chakradharpur.

The winners were awarded with trophies and shawls by DC. Later, addressing the members of the Puja committees DC praised efforts put in by the committee members in maintaining cleanliness despite the strike called by the civic staffs. The hard work has yield good result and best performers won prizes.

DC further said, the cleanliness innate spirit should get expressed within every one and it should not be imposed as pressure. He urged the residents to simply devote only half an hour every day and one would notice a change in cleanliness within the house and town. DC emphasized on the slogan ‘Clean Chaibasa, Green Chaibasa’ and asserted that action leads to character and character leads to habit and finally becomes your nature. So cleanliness must be in our nature.

He appealed the people to maintain similar spirit during Deepawali festival and appealed the ward commissioner to constitute five members committees to maintain cleanliness drive in their respective wards and every three months the best cleaned ward will be awarded by the administration. Present at the event were ADC Jay kishore Prasad, Nagar Parishad, district chairperson Neelanag, vice chairperson Mithlesh Thakur and all Puja committees members.
