Gandhi House crowned winners at Vikas Vidyalaya sports meet

Jamshedpur, Jan 23: The annual sports function of Vikas Vidyalaya, Mango, was held today at JRD Tata Sports Complex with great enthusiasm. Former Indian cricketer Saurabh Tiwari graced the event as the chief guest and motivated students to excel in sports.

The event also saw the presence of special guests Kunal Sarangi, former MLA of Baharagora, and Amit Agarwal, State Minister of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Jharkhand. Both guests inspired the students to consider sports as a career option. School Chairman Dr. Ashok Singh and Principal Vikas Kumar Singh also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of balancing sports and academics.

A total of 600 students from Nursery to Class 10 participated in various events, including shot put, carrom, volleyball, chess, frog jump, 100m race, 800m race, and 200m sprint. Gandhi House emerged as the overall champion with 2,613 points, while Subhash House secured second place with 2,319 points. Subhash House also won the Best March Past award.

Shamim Akhtar Ansari and Aarti Verma were honored as the Best Athletic Boy and Girl, respectively. Shamim Akhtar Ansari also received the Best Sportsman award.

The event’s success was attributed to the efforts of Sports Teacher Govind Mukhi and a dedicated team of coordinators, including Mrs. Bibha Singh, Mr. S.R. Nair, Mala Singh, Poonam Dubey, and others.
