Jamshedpur, Feb 9: The Sitaramdera police arrested fugitive criminal Salman Khan from his residence on Sunday morning following a tip-off. The arrest, which took place amid protests from his family, marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the December 15 firing incident at Salman’s Bhalubasa residence. Salman had been absconding since the incident and his arrest is expected to provide crucial leads.
According to sources, Salman had been hiding in Ranchi and Kolkata for months but returned home due to financial distress. Acting on confidential information, the police team surrounded his residence early in the morning and apprehended him without resistance. His mother, Sangeeta Khalko, claimed that Salman had only come home to collect clothes and was taking a bath when he was arrested. “My son was struggling to survive. He had no money for food or clothing and had returned just this morning,” she said.
The police had earlier arrested Shohrab alias Lalbabu in connection with the case and recovered a 7.65 bore pistol based on his confession. Another accused, Shadik Khan alias Kubda of the Dabur gang, had already been sent to jail. Salman’s arrest is expected to aid the investigation further. Authorities have confirmed that they are now focusing on other individuals involved in the case and are working towards dismantling the criminal network.
