Four UCIL labour unions join hands, call strike from Sept 20

Jadugoda, Sept 16: Four labour trade unions of Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) joined hands under the banner of United Uranium Sangharsh Samiti that has been carrying out phased agitations since September 13 in demand for profit sharing, pension scheme among others, at a meeting on Friday, staged a a one day protest at the Hospital Chowk. The union leaders warned the UCIL management that if the demands of workers were not met with, a total strike would be launched from September 20 during which all mproduction work will be stopped in the seven mines of the Uranium Corporation.

The united forum of the four major labour unions of UCIL workers that includes Jadugoda Labor Union, Singhbhum Uranium Mazdoor Union, Uranium Workers Union and Uranium Mazdoor Union announced this step if their demands were not met with. Friday’s demonstration by United Uranium Sangharsh Samiti included Trade union leaders Ramesh Majhi, Raja Ram Singh, BN Baskey, Mangal Bankira and many others.
