Jamshedpur, Dec 28: A low pressure trough over southeast Bay of Bengal coupled with an upper air cyclonic circulation will impact Jharkhand’s weather during the next 48-hours.
Weathermen said the twin weather system would result in a rise in night readings across the state . ” Moisture incursion is taking place due to the impact of the two weather systems over the Bay of Bengal and this has altered the weather,” said a Met official at IMD’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre.
The minimum reading shot upto 14 degree Celsius in steel city Jamshedpur as against yesterday’s 12 degree Celsius. Today’s night reading in Jamshedpur was one notch below normal. The minimum reading also witnessed a rise in Ranchi and its adjoining areas. The IMD observatory in Ranchi today recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degree Celsius against yesterday’s 8.6 degrees. Today’s minimum reading in Ranchi was 0.5 degree less than normal.
In Chaibasa the minimum reading witnessed a two degree rise. Today, Chaibasa recorded a minimum of 9.4 degree Celsius against yesterday’s 7.5 degrees. Daltonganj today recorded a minimum temperature of 8.8 degree Celsius against yesterday’s 8 degrees.
Met officials rule out the possibility of cold wave conditions atleast in another one week. ” We don’t expect cold wave conditions in Jharkhand in another one week or so as a western disturbance passing through Jammu and Kashmir is likely to result in a whimsical weather from December 22. The western disturbance would result in cloud formation and this would result in a rise in night readings,” explained a duty officer at the Patna Meteorological Centre, which also monitors Jharkhand’s weather.
The duty officer also warned of early morning fog and mist in several parts of Jharkhand, especially those located in the hilly terrain during the next 48-hours.
Met data suggests that last year’s cold wave condition ( When minimum temperature records five degrees less than normal. Minimum temperature has to be less than 10 degree Celsius) prevailed in several isolated pockets of the state in the first week of December and again in December end. In 2014, a cold wave debuted in the second week of December.
