Jamshedpur, June 28: Despite the government keeping control over the liquor business in Jharkhand, the illegal trade of adulterated alcohol continues. In several districts of the state, complaints have been filed regarding the sale of adulterated liquor resulting in the deaths of many individuals after consumption.
This illegal activity has been going on for years, with the involvement of several influential individuals. According to sources, it was discovered that these culprits opened bottles of expensive liquor brands by placing them in hot water. They would then mix water or cheap brand alcohol into the bottles and reseal them using machines. This adulteration is usually done in half and quarter-sized bottles. These bottles were then sold under the names of popular liquor brands such as RS, Imperial Blue, Blenders Pride, and 100 Pipers.
Sources also revealed that not only salesmen but also officials and mafias might be involved in this act. A thorough investigation by the ACB can expose many names. Locals have stated that several inspections were carried out in the past, but effective action has been lacking.
