Ranchi: State election department failed to get information about filing of nominations at Manika assembly constituency for five hours.
Nominations were filed on the last day today for the first phase of Assembly polls scheduled to be held on 25th November.
Chief election officer of the state PK Jajoria said the communication network in Manika, a Naxalite-infested area, had collapsed all of a sudden.
As a result, information regarding filing of nominations could not be obtained till 8 pm.
Jajoria said all telecom service providers had been directed to improve their services in Manika for the election day.
Wireless service will be availed as an alternative, he said.
