Jamshedpur: Another milestone for JUSCO in the area of effluent treatment facilities inside Tata Steel Central Kitchen. Suresh Kumar, VP (Shared Services), Tata Steel inaugurated the Treatment Plant on 22 August 2014 near the Central Kitchen inside Tata Steel Works.

From JUSCO Ashish Mathur, MD, Capt. D Mishra, GM (JTO), Sanjeev Kumar Jha, DGM (Water Management), senior management team were present for the function. In the Central Kitchen of Tata Steel various kinds of food and snacks are prepared centrally and distributed to different canteens.

Daily approx. 800 Kg rice is cooked and the starch water (approx. quantity 800 litres) is disposed into the common drain of the kitchen. JUSCO developed a suitable scheme to treat the starch water conforming to PCB norms.

The treated water will be used for floor cleaning of the canteen. The main process considered is aerobic bio-reaction followed by sedimentation and micro filtration. The final treated water will be chlorinated and pass through activated carbon filter to eliminate any colour or odour from the treated water.

The total process function of the plant will start within 15 days after culture of the biomass. The project was initiated by MD Tata Steel during his inaugural visit to the kitchen which was again constructed by JUSCO.

JUSCO’s Water Management Team under the guidance of Sanjeev Kumar Jha, DGM Water Management, developed the scheme and constructed the plant.
