Jamshedpur : City-based educational institutions across the city and the Tata Steel Zoological Park celebrated the Earth Day today by organising various activities to save the environment.
The Tata Steel Zoological Park Jamshedpur commemorated the Earth Day by organising a programme on the topic, Compost making at your home for students of Kerala Public School, Burmamines and Jusco School South Park. The programme wasd sponsored by Inner Wheel Club of Jamshedpur Zest.
Schools celebrated World Earth Day today to inspire awareness and appreciation for the earth�s environment. Several competitions based on Reuse and Reduce concept were conducted across classes 3 to 9 The activities were as follows Making Gift Wrapping Paper Contest From Newspaper Decorating Sapling Holder Contest Envelope making competition from newspaper, calendar and other used sheets of paper poster competition jewellery designing competition model making competition.
There are many days which are celebrated throughout the year, but that one day, which celebrates what holds everything together on the earth is World Earth Day. Popularly known as Earth Day, it is celebrated in more than 190 countries and falls on April 22. Earth Day is observed mainly in appreciation of earth’s environment and to spread the message of environmental conservation.
Seema Rani, education officer with the Tata Steel Zoological Park stressed the need for a continuous awareness campaign about the concept of �Green Earth� among the students of schools and colleges. She motivated the students to take steps for a better tomorrow. She expressed his concern about the indiscriminate usage of groundwater, other natural resources.
Schools across the city celebrated the Earth day in some form or the other. Motilal Nehru Public School, DBMS English School, JH Tarapore School, Sheyn International School, also organised it to spread awareness among students.
�Earth Day� was celebrated by D. B. M. S. English School on 22nd April, 2015. This day was observed through a number of activities which were organized for the students of various levels. The Primary level students participated in a Fancy Dress Competition and took part in an Earth Day Parade creating awareness about a number of environmental hazards.
The students of the middle school level participated in activities such as �Best out of Waste�, �Recipes for a Better Planet�, Calendar Making� and solved Crossword Puzzles. The students of High School staged a Nukkad Natak and also sang a song at the morning assembly spreading the message to �save our planet earth�. Poetry writing competition and Collage making competition was also organized for High School students.
The students of the Plus Two level participated in a �Treasure-Hunt� � Ecothalon. All the activities spread the message of protecting the planet from environmental degradation and to take constructive steps to curb environmental hazards.
Students were asked to observe one hour in the evening ( from 07:00 p.m. to 08:00 p.m.) when they would switch off lights and fans to generate awareness about the importance of electricity in our lives.
These activities were witnessed by the Member of the School Managing Committee, School Principal, Mrs. Rajani Shekhar, Vice-Principal �P. K. Sahu, Co-ordinators of Primary, Middle, High and Plus Two level as well as Activity Co-ordinator.
The Environment Club of J.H.Tarapore School celebrated the �Earth Day� on 22nd April, 2015, with great enthusiasm & zest. Students from Std. VI to XII participated in a �poster making competition�.
Students were required to make posters with a slogan or a message to create an awareness about the importance of conserving our mother earth. The best entries were displayed all over in the school.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners were assigned walls in the school to be painted as a part of the �Rang Barse (Wall Art) campaign� at J.H.Tarapore school.
Various aspects like afforestation, conservation of water, soil, air and fuel, abatement of pollution, protection of the fauna & flora were touched upon by the students in their own special way.
