Jamshedpur: Preparations for Durga Puja are in full swing in Jamshedpur. All liquor shops in the district will remain closed on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
The District Magistrate has issued orders to this effect. Furthermore, the district administration has deployed magistrates to ensure the smooth conduct of Durga Puja. A total of 81 magistrates have been deployed in the district. These include nine super zonal magistrates, 34 zonal magistrates, and 39 magistrates. Similarly, nine super zonal police officers, 34 zonal police officers, and 39 police officers have also been deployed. A large police force has also been deployed.
This time, in addition to the main control room in Sakchi, auxiliary control rooms have been set up in Mango Chowk, Railway Station TOP roundabout, and Golmuri. The control room at Mango Chowk will cover the Mango, Azadnagar, Olidih, and MGM police station areas. The Station TOP control room will cover Bagbeda, Parsudih, Sundarnagar, and Jugsalai. The Golmuri control room will cover Golmuri, Sidgora, Birsanagar, Telco, Burmamines, and Govindpur.
Anti-social elements will be monitored using CCTV cameras. Preparations have been made for this. Footage from CCTV cameras installed across the city will be viewed from the control room in Sakchi. In addition, CCTV cameras have been installed in all puja pandals.
A review meeting was held via video conferencing under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karna Satyarthi to ensure better preparation for law and order and traffic management during Durga Puja.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stated that deputed magistrates will be present at their designated locations and directly monitor the maintenance of law and order. Static magistrates will be present at their respective locations to review the situation, while senior officials will be on the move to monitor the situation to avoid any untoward incident.
He directed that if there is a long traffic jam or the situation gets out of control, the concerned magistrate should immediately inform senior officials. The presence of deputed magistrates, police officers, and police force will be confirmed from the district control room.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the subdivisional officers of Dhalbhum and Ghatshila to remain in constant contact with the puja committees and ensure coordination. He placed special emphasis on crowd control, traffic route diversions, barricading, parking arrangements, and the availability of ambulances. He also directed to ensure the presence of additional security forces at sensitive locations.
