Jamshedpur, March 30: In a continued crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Jugsalai police apprehended a youth identified as Mohammad Naushad and sent him to judicial custody.
The accused, a resident near Garib Nawaz Colony, was found in possession of 5.35 grams of brown sugar, along with two mobile phones and a scooter.
According to police sources, Naushad has a prior history of involvement in drug-related offences and had previously served time in jail for similar activities. Acting on suspicion, a police team intercepted him near the railway bridge by the Kharkai River during a routine operation. A thorough search led to the recovery of the contraband from the scooter’s storage compartment.
The operation was conducted under the direction of DSP Tauquir Alam and Jugsalai OC Gulam Rabbani Khan. Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace possible links in the narcotics network.
