Ranchi: BJP has intensified its campaign demanding the death penalty for the killers of the Kusumba Vishnugarh girl, calling the crime “rarest of the rare.” Party state president and MP Aditya Sahu criticized the Jharkhand government for the failure of law and order and said daughters in the state are unsafe. Addressing a press conference at his Delhi residence, Sahu said the brutal murder and mutilation of the girl after the Ramnavami Mangalwari procession has left the public shocked and terrified.
Sahu accused the state government of insensitivity, pointing out that even six days after the incident, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had not condemned the crime or issued directives for action. He expressed gratitude to the Jharkhand High Court for taking suo motu cognizance and directing senior officials, including the DGP and Chief Secretary, to act.
BJP has been supporting the victim’s family, providing financial aid and helping the father return home. Demonstrations have taken place across Hazaribagh and other districts demanding immediate arrest of the accused. Sahu warned that if the culprits are not arrested within two days, BJP will organize torch rallies in district and block headquarters on April 2, followed by a statewide shutdown on April 3.
Sahu also criticized statements by the state finance minister, calling the Congress party insensitive and accusing the government of treating such crimes as routine. He said justice for the victim will be served only when the perpetrators are hanged. BJP vice president and MP Dr. Pradeep Verma and MP Dhullu Mahto were also present at the press briefing.
