Drivers panicky after Jadugora torching incident

Jamshedpur: Heavy vehicle drivers are in a state of panic after the incident of torching of a truck carrying Uranium ore from Bagjata Mines to UCIL Mines at Jadugora.

Three days have passed to the incident when Naxalites torched the truck around 11.45 pm. The victim driver Mridul Kanti Barik said he was on his way to Jadugora Mines when several people stopped his truck near Bankra culvert.

When I stopped and got down, the strangers asked me reason for plying the vehicle despite their diktat for not doing so. They (suspected Naxalites) said they had pasted posters to ask drivers not to drive on the said road on that day.

I told them I am a poor man and that I was compelled to drive my vehicle by my poverty. They allowed me to go away and set my truck afire by cutting the fuel tank with an axe, said Barik.

Barik later walked to Bagjata Mines and narrated the incident to security officer RK Singh. He said he would never again drive at night.
