District Coordination Committee Meeting: Teachers barred from non-teaching work during school hours

Jamshedpur: A district-level coordination committee meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi at the Collectorate auditorium to review the progress of various development and welfare schemes. Emphasizing the importance of inter-departmental coordination, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to work in close collaboration to overcome obstacles and ensure that projects are completed on schedule.

He underlined that no scheme or project should be delayed due to lack of communication between departments. Officers were instructed to take personal initiative in resolving issues by coordinating with concerned agencies.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need to address public grievances promptly and with sensitivity. All Block Development Officers were directed to organize Jan Grievance Redressal Day once a week in each block to hear and resolve complaints. Circle Officers were asked to submit land-related reports without delay to facilitate implementation of schemes such as Sarna, Masna, Graveyard Jahersthan Ghera Yojana, construction of hostels, hospitals, Anganwadi Centres, and other buildings. Land disputes were to be resolved swiftly through coordination between engineers and revenue officials. The Welfare Department was instructed to ensure that the hostel constructed in Lakhaidih of Doomriya is inaugurated within 15 days.

Reviewing the Education Department, the Deputy Commissioner stressed that teachers must not be engaged in non-academic work during teaching hours. Directions were given to provide drinking water and road facilities in four schools in remote areas of Gudabanda and Potka, and to establish kitchen gardens, nutrition gardens, Didi-Badi, and plantation drives in primary and high schools. The Civil Surgeon was instructed to conduct health camps to issue health cards by checking hemoglobin, eyes, skin, height, and weight of children. The Lead District Manager was asked to expedite the opening of bank accounts and rectify errors to facilitate scholarship payments and other benefits. Additionally, children rehabilitated from child labour were to be enrolled in residential schools.

The Social Welfare Department was instructed to bring transparency in the selection of sevika-sahayikas through Block Development Officers and to inform newly selected workers about training and welfare schemes.

The Tourism Department was asked to prepare an action plan to improve the utility of its buildings and resources. The Animal Husbandry Department was directed to ensure optimal use of its facilities and to survey the benefits under livestock insurance schemes, collecting feedback from beneficiaries.

While reviewing the Labour Department, the Deputy Commissioner directed Block Development Officers to verify cases of accidents or deaths of migrant workers within two hours. The Labour Superintendent was tasked with ensuring compensation is paid to affected families on the same day.

Finally, all departments were instructed to prepare proposals for the maintenance and repair of buildings in their respective areas and to improve the functioning of services such as 108 ambulances, drinking water supply, Mamta vehicles, and the monitoring of education and health facilities.

Deputy Development Commissioner Nagendra Paswan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhagirath Prasad, Director NEP Santosh Garg, District Transport Officer Dhananjay, SDO Ghatsila Sunil Chandra, and other departmental officials attended the meeting.
