Jamshedpur: Awareness chariot to support workers, end child labour

Jamshedpur: Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi flagged off the Shramik Awareness Rath from the Collectorate premises to spread information on issues concerning unorganized sector workers, migrant labourers, and the elimination of child labour across the district.

The specially designed awareness chariot will travel to various blocks and panchayats, informing people about schemes run by the Labour Department, including e-labour registration, Nirman Shramik Registration, Shramik Seva Yojana, Pravasi Shramik Sahayata Yojana, and Social Security Schemes. Officials said the initiative aims to help workers understand their rights and access welfare benefits.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that ensuring the safety and welfare of unorganized and migrant workers remains a top priority for the administration. He reiterated the district’s zero-tolerance approach to child labour, describing it as a “social crime” that must be eradicated through collective awareness and action.

He instructed officials to ensure the chariot reaches remote areas so workers can get registered and benefit from government schemes. The campaign will also include audio-visual presentations, pamphlet distribution, and other awareness materials.

District Transport Officer, Planning Officer, and other officials were present at the flagging-off ceremony.
