Jamshedpur: Union HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and Sanjay Dhotre, Union minister of state for education on Tuesday inaugurated Diamond Jubilee Lecture Hall. NIT director Karunesh Kumar Shukla and other senior officials and faculty members attended the inaugural function at the campus of the tech cradle.
The Diamond Jubilee Lecture Hall has 16 solar panel plates, which can produce up to 100 kilowatts of solar power. NIT Director Karunesh Shukla said that LED bulbs will be lit in all the class rooms of the lecture hall complex with electricity generated from solar energy. Apart from this, the lecture hall complex also has open theatre, canteen and large parking facilities. He said that the institute is trying to develop students in better academic environment. It is worth noting that NIT College is currently ranked 79th in the technical institute category, while the college is now trying to make it to the top 50 under the All India ranking.
The lecture hall complex built in an area of 22,380 sq mts comprises 36 smart classrooms equipped with a large touchscreen LED display panel, computers, specialised software, audience response technology, assistive listening devices, networking, high-end audio-visual facilities other hi-tech teaching gadgets for BTech, MTech and MCA students. Each classroom has a seating capacity for 120 students. The AC lecture hall complex also has 160 faculty chambers. The building is equipped with solar panels, LEDs and censor-based lighting system.
