Deoghar: In a disheartening incident, two individuals deceived a devotee from West Bengal at a tea shop near Kanwaria Dharamshala in the city police station area of Deoghar, absconding with jewelry valued at Rs 12 lakh. The victim, Santosh Kumar Thakur, residing at 29 Bhairav Dutt Lane in Nandi Bagan, Howrah, West Bengal, filed a complaint at the city police station narrating the unfortunate incident.
Santosh, along with his friends, had visited Baba Mandir for Manas Path, a spiritual journey. After performing puja on Sunday around 1:50 pm, he was sitting at a tea shop near Ojha Niwas, a short distance from Dharamshala. Exploiting the situation, two individuals approached Santosh, posing as men from the Superintendent of Police (SP).
The impostors claimed that there were security concerns and advised Santosh to discuss the matter further away from the tea shop. Allegedly expressing concern about incidents in the area, they convinced Santosh to remove his jewelry for safety. Tragically, Santosh fell prey to their deception and revealed his valuable jewelry.
Realizing the scam, Santosh Kumar Thakur promptly reported the incident to the city police station. The police are now investigating the matter to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen jewelry.
