Demand for honorarium raised at TAC meeting

Jamshedpur: Potka MLA Menka Sardar raised the demand for giving honorarium to the Sardars, Pradhans, Ghatwals, Tebedars, Digars, Naiks and Paiks of East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan on behalf of the state government. She said these traditional tribal institutional posts had great importance in Adivasi self governance system. She said the Jharkhand government should give honorarium to the tribal heads belonging to various levels of tribal self governance hierarchy.
Sardar also handed a petition to Chief Minister Raghubar Das who is also the president of the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) of Jharkhand. She said the state government was giving honorarium to the Mankis, Mundas and Dakuas of West Singhbhum as they were the heads of traditional Adivasi system of self governance. She said she had got the support of all MLAs and TAC members.
The petition given to the CM bore the signatures of MLA Laxman Tudu, MLA Ram Kumar Pahan, MLA Bimla Pradhan, MLA Gangotri Kujur and TAC member Hemlal Murmu.
