The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Delhi, has included 97,53,577 voters in the draft electoral roll prepared under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR), while issuing notices to over 33.14 lakh electors regarding mapping issues and system-identified logical discrepancies.
Initiated by the Election Commission of India on June 30 with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, the exercise aims to ensure comprehensive voter coverage under Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
During the initial enumeration phase ending August 17, Booth Level Officers conducted door-to-door visits across the national capital. Out of Delhi’s starting base of 1,45,10,299 registered electors, 97,53,577 submitted forms, while 47,56,722 electors were categorized under absent, shifted, dead, or duplicate lists.
Published on August 31, the draft roll comprises 49,88,993 male, 47,64,137 female, and 447 third-gender electors. It remains available on official electoral portals, voter centers, and designated sites.
Election officials have already disposed of 31,26,576 notices (94.34 percent), marking them for inclusion in the final roll. Following updated instructions on September 29, Electoral Registration Officers resolved 18,96,675 logical discrepancy cases (98.05 percent), with remaining cases set to clear before the November 30 deadline.
To widen participation, special weekend camps were conducted across all 14,947 polling stations between September 20 and October 25, alongside targeted drives at educational campuses, night shelters, and relocated settlements like Bela Estate and Bawana.
Reassuring the public, the CEO’s office emphasized that no name will be deleted without giving the voter a fair hearing, urging residents to submit claims or objections before the October 30 deadline ahead of the final roll publication on December 4, 2026.
