Dead body of physically challenged man found at Dhatkidih

Jamshedpur : Dead body of a 50-year-old man was found lying at a lane at B- Block in Dhatkidih under Bistupur police station area early this morning.

Liyakat Ali, the victim was physically challenged and was a resident of Bawangora in Mango. The police said it to be a case of murder as the victim has marks of injuries on his chest and head.

The police recovered the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem after taking a statement from Mukthar Ali, the nephew of the murder victim.

Ali , a tailor by profession and had a shop at Bistupur used to eke out a living by begging. Relatives said he had to abandon tailoring work after one of his legs was damaged in a road mishap two decades ago.

Sources in Dhatkidih said that during the search, the police recovered coins and currency notes worth over Rs 1,000 from his possession.

Officer-in-charge, Bistupur police station, Jitendra Kumar said that this to be a case of murder and that some anti-social elements might have murdered the handicapped person for taking away his money.

Mukhtar said as his uncle was not able to walk he would spend the night under the shed of a car garage at B-Block and would beg in the Dhatkidih locality during the day.
