Jamshedpur, Jan 21: East Singhbhum district commissioner, Dr. Amitabh Kaushal has ordered a curb on stray animals including cows from the main roads of the city and dogs, especially from the busti areas.
Heading a meet on stray animals at his office on Wednesday, the DC gave directives to Jusco officers as well as authorities of Tata Steel to look into the matter and asked the notified area committees and municipalities for assistance.
DC Dr. Kaushal ordered the Jusco and Tata Steel officers to move stray cows from the city roads to the goushala (cow shed). He directed that if the cows owners come within one week of the animals being sent to the goushala they would be handed over their cows after taking fine. However, no claims will be accepted after a week.
DC asked the district animal husbandry officers to inspect the goushala and prepare report for providing the goushala with requisite funds. He asked the concerned officers to count the capacity of cows in goushala and facilitate grant of funds from the government.
East Singhbhum animal husbandry officer Dr. Jitendra Kumar assured to submit the report to ADM as early as possible.
The district administration woke up to the stray animal menace after a stray attacked a 7-year-old boy in Mango. The DC asked the officials present at the meeting as to what action can be taken to stop such incidents.
