DC holds review meeting of development schemes

Jamshedpur : East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar in a review meeting of development schemes on Friday directed the district social welfare officer, Ranjana Mishra to complete registration, and layout of houses sanctioned to beneficiaries within a week in all the blocks. East Singhbhum district social welfare unit will in a week time has to complete layout of the houses of beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in all the 11 blocks of the district.

According to sources, the directive was given due to the delay in block officials in executing the housing project, a flagship scheme of the Central government which aims pucca houses for rural masses by 2022.

� We have been asked to complete the job in week and we will finish the task. As part of the process, the beneficiaries nameare first registered in the Awas Yojana and after which the houses are geographically photographed. In this case surveyors collect data with Bhuvan PMAY mobile app and supervisors moderate the collected data at Bhuvan-PMAY geo platform in district headquarter) and layout prepared,� said district social welfare officer Ranjana Mishra.

As per the information so far out of a target of 9142 houses under PMAY only 8700 have been registered. This apart, the deputy commissioner has directed for increasing working days under MGNREGS in rural areas. Incidentally, under the central government scheme�MGNREGS�rural households are promised 100 days of work every year.

Under the MGNREGS, every beneficiary is entitled to get employment for 100 days in a year. There is must be transparency either in the payment of wages to the workers registered under MGNREGS. Officials said efforts are on to change the scenario. He admitted that not all families in the district were getting 100 days employment at present. The families are getting employment only for 50 to 60 days.

A directive has been given to all rojgar sevaks to pay the wages through bank accounts in order to make the payment delivery system more transparent.

� The DC has also ordered to ensure that number of working days in increased significantly in accordance with the scheme,� added Ranjana Mishra.

Order was also issued to the block development officers to ensure that incomplete construction work of panchayat bhawan in the district are completed by February 15. Incidentally, the civil construction works in the panchayat bhawans are undertaken by special division and Meso projects.
