Jhargram, July 11: The over bridge near the Kedia fuel pump has become an invitation to danger but due to the negligence or oversight of the government authorities that be, no move thus far has been made to eradicate the threat to life and limbs by getting the sore points repaired. One of the light poles on the over bridge has remained threateningly bent after being hit by an unidentified vehicle and surprisingly has remained bent for several days without any tangible move by authorities to replace this light pole. Police personnel posted on duty stand near this pillar to streamline traffic across the bridge and to ensure that no one is injured in case of the light pole tippling over and the possibilities of this threat definitely looms large. The surprising element is that several traffic police officials pass through this over bridge regularly and yet their attention has not been attracted towards the nearly looped pole.
Another glaring possibility of major mishap is the red-clay road leading to the District Council and Municipal offices. A large pot hole on the road, besides several others that pockmark this stretch have seen to several accidents including injuries to two-wheeler riders. To add to the commuters’ woes, the monsoon waters that collect on the road and the potholes due to inadequate drainage system, are veritable death or injury traps for commuters either on foot or two-wheelers and medium and large vehicles. It is essential that the authorities concerned take immediate notice of these dangerous anomalies or count the number of mounting accidents due to their negligent attitude.
