Jamshedpur, Mar 15: Water supply to nearly 5000 houses were affected in the Mango region after the supply pipeline along NH-33 of the Mango drinking water project operated by Mango Municipal Corporation was damaged.
Lakhs of littres of water was also wasted due to the damage of the supply line.
The water supply has been affected near areas of MGM College such as Dimna Chowk, Jaipal Nagar, Hillview Colony, Khadia Basti, Transport Nagar and others.
According to drinking water and sanitation department assistant engineer, Surendra Prasad Singh, the contractor of the NHAI who is widening the NH-33 stretch near Pardih- Dimna was making the roadside nullah and during the work the pipeline was damaged and that repair work to mend the supply pipe has started and the defects would be plugged by Monday evening and water supply would be normalised from Tuesday morning.
Pipeline was also repaired near Ganga Nursing Home along Dimna Road which resulted in water supply being disrupted in nearby urban slums.
