Accusation of assault and bribery against Ulidih Police Station OC

Jamshedpur, Mar 15: A resident of Dimna Basti, identified as Shiva Karmakar has alleged Ulidih thana OC Meghnath Mandal of seeking bribe and assaulting him. The complainant reached MGM Hospital for treatment and showed signs of beating by the police official and said that he was not able to walk properly due to the police beating. 
Shiva said that few months back there was an explosion while making bombs at Dimna Basti in a house which was in its neighbour. The former thana OC Dhananjay Baitha had called him to the thana premises on several occasion.  The new thana OC, Meghnath Mandal used to call him to the thana and torture him mentally by asking him to sit in the police station for the entire night. 
He then complained to the city SP who phoned up the Ulidih thana OC that if there is proof of Shiva’s involvement in the crime then send him to jail otherwise do not harass him unnecessarily. 
After a while the thana OC came to his house and said that if he wants the case to be closed, he should pay Rs 50,000 otherwise be prepared to be sent to jail. 

On Sunday night while he was returning from a party he was stopped by Tiger Mobile patrolling party and brought him to the Ulidih thana and after bringing him to thana the jawans along with thana OC beat him up. 
However, Ulidih thana OC, Meghnath Mandal clarified that Shiva was caught by the patrolling party but refused about allegation of beating or seeking money from him.
