Cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal triggers rainfall

Jamshedpur : The formation of a low pressure trough extending from Gangetic Bengal to Bangladesh due to the impact of Kyant, the cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal , triggered unseasonal showers at several places today.

Several places including Jamshedpur and Ranchi woke up to overcast conditions. Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas experienced showers which was accompanied by wind blowing at a speed of 20 Kmph.

In its 24-hour forecast both the IMD centres at Patna and Ranchi predicted rain at a few isolated places due to the formation of the low pressure trough line. ” The weather condition is expected to improve only after the next 24-hours,” said a weather analyst at the Patna Meteorological Centre.

The Regional Meteorological Centre at Alipore in Calcutta said weather chart analysis and satellite pictures indicated formation of patches of medium and high clouds at several places across Jharkhand.

However, the forecast said that the cyclonic circulation would gradually become weak and weather condition would start improving from tomorrow evening.

Due to the adverse weather condition, the night temperatures surged in most parts of the state. Weathermen said night temperatures registered 3-4 notches rise above average normal due to the adverse weather.

On the other hand, showers accompanied by wind blowing at a speed of 5-6km per hour had resulted in an unusual plunge in day temperatures.
