CS orders opening of bank account of MGNREGA workers

Ranchi, Aug. 26: Chief Secretary Raj Bala Verma said that in the years to come, the Govt. will dig 5 lakh dhobas and out of that, 1 lakh dhobas will be dug by the Rural Development Department.

She directed to ensure resource mapping on all the relevant points. She said this while reviewing the RDD Officers and directing all DCs and DDCs through video conferencing.

The CS directed to conduct Gram Sabha for dhoba digging and said that records should be opened in beginning of September so that the second phase of dhoba digging can be started soon. She said that 20 dhobas were targeted to be constructed in every village out of which, an average 5 dhoba have been completed in every village.

The CS directed all the DDCs to collect applications for opening bank accounts of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) workers after verification.

She directed to take action on BPOs and Rojgar Sevaks showing slackness in their work and visit villages with LDMs and business correspondents and open bank accounts of MGNREGA workers. She said that joint accounts should be transferred into single account so that funds can be paid through DBT.

The department informed that against 700 lac working days, 445.46 lac working days have already been created. Moreover, 6 lac, 20 thousand 172 MGNREGA worker�s accounts have been transferred and 9 lac new accounts have been opened in one month. 4.44 lac accounts have been migrated in the last 20 days.

The CS directed the DDCs to close all the raw schemes under MGNREGA and upload them on MIS. The department told that 1.41 lac raw old schemes have been closed. The CS directed that the compensation should be given urgently to the beneficiaries along with updating it on NREGA soft.

At the same time, late payment should be reviewed block wise.

During the review, the CS directed the RDD to submit daily report of rural road construction and its pace of construction. She also directed to do profiling of Indira Aawas Scheme and complete all uncompleted houses.

The houses for which 2nd or 3rd installments have been received, and are still uncompleted, should be completed under the supervision of SHG. Out of the targeted 3.04 lac Indira Aawas, 1.45 lac houses have been completed. Mrs. Verma directed that the up-to-date status of Indira aawas should be profiled block wise, panchayat wise, village and individual level and SOP should be prepared to complete them.

It was told by the department that in the last 20 days, 58,000 Indira Aawas have been completed and delisting work is going on.

RDD Principal Secretary N. N. Sinha, MGNREGA Commissioner Siddharth Tripathi and other officers were present on this occasion.
