Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: Under the directives of the Assistant Commissioner of Excise, East Singhbhum, a major anti-illegal liquor operation was conducted, targeting clandestine liquor production.

The raid focused on the remote hilly areas of Chhotabanki under the MGM police jurisdiction, where several illegal Mahua distilleries were in operation.

Authorities successfully demolished all the illicit liquor units and recovered a total of 120 lts. of illegally brewed Mahua liquor.

Additionally, around 18,000 kgs of Mahua flowers-used for fermentation and buried underground-were seized, though much of it was destroyed during the recovery process.

Three individuals identified as Vishal Karmakar, Kheda Singh, and Rajan Karmakar, involved in the illegal liquor manufacturing, have been booked under relevant provisions of the Excise Act.

This operation underscores the administration’s commitment to curbing illicit alcohol production in the region.
