Court takes cognizance of Rs 196.23 crore embezzlement case against former Jharkhand State Cricket Association officials

Jamshedpur, Oct 19: Former life member of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) cum former secretary of Ranchi Cricket Association Sunil Kumar Singh said that court has taken cognizance of embezzlement in JSCA.

Addressing a press meet in Bistupur on Tuesday Sunil Singh said, a complaint of embezzlement of Rs 196.23 crore was lodged at Bistupur Police Station against JSCA’s Amitabh Choudhary, Rajesh Verma, Govinda Mukherjee and Ranjit Kumar Singh on July 17, 2017.

Sunil Kumar Singh and former Ranji player Ujjwal Das had filed the complaint.

In this regard, Ujjwal Das’ lawyer Ranjandhari Singh said that the police had investigated the matter and submitted an incorrect report on March 22, 2018.

After which a complaint was filed with all the evidence in the court. The police report contains the testimony of a person who was on foreign tour as manager of the cricket team and the police showed his testimony in their investigation report.

In this case, the last testimony of Ujjwal Das was held in the court on March 19, 2019. Sunil Kumar Singh appeared before the court on May 19, 2019 and Sheshnath Pathak registered his statement before the court in September 2019.

After which the court took cognizance in this matter and the court is now preparing to send notice to the accused to appear before the court.
