351 test positive for COVID in Ranchi 

Jamshedpur/Ranchi, March 31: Panic gripped the city as after a gap of two months 121 COVID cases were reported in a single day on Wednesday, March 31.

The positive cases have now reached the mark of 18906. So far 376 deaths have been reported. The active cases are now 374.

It is really very surprising that after the decline for a few months the cases are again rising with every passing day. 

After witnessing a consistent slump in coronavirus cases for a month or so, Jamshedpur is now seeing a fresh surge in daily Covid-19 cases.

The active cases in Jamshedpur have risen to 374 with 121 new positives reported on Wednesday, March 31.     

On Wednesday, East Singhbhum district saw 22 people recover of the virus.

All the new 121 cases are from Jamshedpur.

22 people recovered of the virus on Wednesday taking the total recovery to 18156 while total active cases in Jamshedpur are 374.

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 232763 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 96.65% while the mortality rate is 1.99 %.

So far in Jamshedpur 633629 samples have been collected out of which 619614 have been tested and 600708 have turned out to be negative.

On the other hand, Coronavirus tally in Jharkhand on Wednesday reached 1,24,201 as 693 new cases of Covid-19 were detected while 122 people were discharged from various hospitals across the Jharkhand. During the day no deaths were reported as a result of which the overall death count remains at 1113. Total active cases in Jharkhand are 2825.

As per the information provided by the health department the number of active cases in the state was 2825 while number of cured and discharged cases stood at 1,20,263.

The vigil has been stepped up at Tatanagar Railway Station. All the passengers are undergoing thermal screening, and have to fill up their travel history and contact details at the Tatanagar Station.

The health department has also intensified testing. Random tests are being conducted at market places in Sakchi and Bistupur.

East Singhbhum district health authority has made it mandatory to subject every commuter coming from Bengal and Odisha to undergo Covid test at the checking points in the district from Wednesday. 

On the other hand, district health department on Wednesday took samples for RT- PCR test of those found loitering without masks. Over 100 samples were taken during the drive at Sakchi. The health department started this practice in a novel bid to encourage people to wear masks while moving out.
