Ranchi, August 12: The Union Home Ministry convened a crucial inter-state coordination meeting on Naxalism in Ranchi on Monday, bringing together top police officials from Jharkhand and neighboring states. Jharkhand’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta led the state’s delegation, accompanied by the ADG Campaign, IG Campaign, and DIG Special Branch. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination among states affected by Left Wing Extremism.
During the discussions, participants addressed several critical issues, including the timely sharing of intelligence about Naxalite activities in border areas, the appointment of nodal officers for improved coordination, and the development of comprehensive action plans to combat the Left Wing Extremism scenario. The gathering also emphasized the need for strengthening cooperation in border regions to effectively curb Naxalite operations and establishing a robust mechanism for regular inter-state coordination meetings at various levels.
IG Campaign stressed the importance of prompt information exchange regarding Naxalite movements in Jharkhand’s border areas and advocated for coordinated operations against Naxalite squads active in the border regions of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The meeting saw detailed deliberations on the current Naxalite scenario, with participants outlining specific steps to be taken by all involved states. Jharkhand Police highlighted their recent anti-Naxal campaigns and underscored the significance of inter-state cooperation for successful operations.
The officials also discussed the necessity of sharing information about active Naxalites and their associates across all affected states. The meeting concluded with a commitment to conduct joint anti-Naxal operations and maintain regular communication between senior officials of the border states. This collaborative approach aims to ensure swift and coordinated action against Left Wing Extremism, marking a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to address the Naxalite challenge in the region.
