Jamshedpur: A chaotic situation was created at the gate of Tata Motors on Tuesday after agitating convoy drivers and their supporters fell out with the security personnel employed at the company gate. Several persons were injured in the incident, sources said.
Sources said the incident happened when the security guards on duty at the company gate tried to remove the convoy drivers and their family members staging dharna at the venue. One of the agitating drivers Durlabh Singh was badly hurt in the incident. Irked over this, the agitators clashed with the security staff and opposed their orders to move away from the entrance gate, sources said.
The situation was controlled after local police rushed to the scene and tried to assuage the agitators. The officer in-charge of Telco PS Jayant Tirkey said action will be taken against those guilty of fomenting discord at the scene.
Sources said the convoy drivers had yesterday gone to the office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner for talks in connection with their various demands. When the talks failed, the convoy drivers went to the company gate to organize sit-in.
After today’s incident, convoy drivers decided to hold a tripartite meeting at the office of the Deputy Labour Commissioner on 28th October in connection with the various demands of convoy drivers.
