Jamshedpur, March 29: Central government on Sunday brought Uttarakhand under Presidents Rule citing a Constitutional breakdown in the wake of a rebellion in the ruling Congress. On Monday, the Congress slammed the decision calling it a murder of democracy and a black day for democracy.

Jharkhand Congress and Yuva Congress workers led by former secretary of Jharkhand State Congress Vijay Yadav raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later burnt his effigy at Shaheed Chowk in Sakchi.

On the occasion Vijay Yadav said the BJP government at the Centre has murdered the democracy by implementing the Presidents Rule in Uttarakhand and Modi government by using its power wants to remove the congress for the state where it is ruling but their intent will not be successful as judiciary is present in the country.

President Pranab Mukherjee signed the proclamation under Article 356 of the Constitution dismissing the Congress government headed by Harish Rawat and placing the Assembly under suspended animation on Sunday morning on the recommendation of the Union Cabinet.

On the occasion Congress leaders including Ravindra Jha, Rakesh Sahu, Parvinder Singh, Ramnath Prasad, Riyaz Khan, Shikha Choudhary, Kaluan Chandra Singh, Lallu Bhai, Chinna Rao, Sunny Singh, Surendra Sharma, Atul Gupta and others were present.
