Chief Returning Officer holds video conference to review poll preparations

Jamshedpur, Oct 14: Chief Returning Officer Vinay Kumar Choubey chaired a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Returning Officers of the state through video conferencing on Monday and reviewed preparations for the upcoming state Assembly elections. Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop Birtharay was also present on this occasion.

Choubey directed the DC to launch a two day campaign on 19th and 20th October to add the names of Millennium voters in the electoral roll and ensure improvement in gender ratio. He also ordered summary revision of electoral roll, first level checking of electronic voting machines and identification of differently-abled voters of the district. He said police should launch special drive to identify and arrest people who may affect smooth conduct of elections. Mapping of highly sensitive polling booths should also be carried out, he said.

Choubey said the district administration make foolproof security arrangements in the extremism-hit areas and also launch awareness drive for voters.
