Chicken pox kills 7 children in Noamundi

Noamundi, August 20: As many as 7 children are reported to have been died of chicken pox within a month in Kantodiya village under Noamundi block while a dozen of children are victim of the epidemic.

The village Munda Bikram Sirka said that the information was given to Badajamda Community health centers but till date no medical camp has been set up in the village.

The villagers are praying to get themselves relieved from the disease. The village boasts of 80 houses with a population of around 3 thousand people.

Due to chicken pox outbreak, the people of nearby villages are afraid of the same. The victim children also suffer from malnutrition.

The seven children who died of the disease have been identified as Churi Sirka (8 years), Ram Sirka (4 years), Remse Suren (18 months), Sunibari Sirka (6 years), Mungud Sirka (5 years), Jadiya Sirka (18 months) and Budhni Suren 18 months).

The Block Medical officer Dharmendra Pradhan said that we would take initiative and visit the village so that no more causalities are reported and take necessary steps. According to the villagers no medical team has visited the village for one year .
