Chess for Everyone Championship witnesses thrilling battles

Jamshedpur, Aug 6: Chess For Everyone Rating Chess Championship, organized by Rungta Steel TMT and hosted by the West Singhbhum District Chess Association, continued its intense battles on the second day of the tournament. A total of 180 players from 12 states are participating in this highly anticipated event.

After four rounds of competition, Anirban Basu and Rishan Devnath from West Bengal emerged as the frontrunner, securing an impressive 4 points. Right on his heels, Jharkhand’s Adhiraj Mitra, Kamal Kishore Debnath, Manish Sharma, along with Bengal’s Ranit Menthi, and others, showcased their exceptional skills, scoring 3.5 points to remain in a competitive second place.

During the action-packed day, two rounds of enthralling chess were played, and a couple of noteworthy results captured the attention of spectators. In a thrilling upset, Rohit from Jamshedpur defeated top-seeded Bhudev Chandra Tripathi. Another highlight was the fourth-round match between Adhiraj Mitra and Ganita Methi, which ended in a well-fought draw.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that ten players in the competition are above 55 years of age, showcasing the diverse participation in the championship. Secretary of the association Basant Khandelwal expressed his delight and announced that a total of 50 individuals would be awarded in various categories at the conclusion of the tournament organized by Rungta Steel TMT.

The championship boasts an esteemed panel of judges, including International Arbiters Vishal Kumar Minj, Abhishek Acharya, Vikram Kumar, Shivpriya Bhardwaj, and Priyanka Kumari, among others.

Among the distinguished guests and dignitaries present on the occasion were Jaidev Chandra Tripathi, Guddu Rungta, Rakesh Budhia, Sushil Chomal, Vedant Kheerwal, Subrata Chandra Tripathi, Anant Lal Vishwakarma, Harsh Sharma, and many others.
