Chamber of Commerce opposes new version of Jharkhand VAT

Jamshedpur : The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SCCI) on Friday opposed the new version of Jharkhand VAT ( J VAT), recently implemented by the State Commercial Taxes Department.

After a meeting the traders demanded that the department must take steps to make this easy for the traders.

Suresh Sonthalia, president of SCCI after a meeting with the local traders at the Chambers Bhawan in Bistupur said that the recent changes made by the commercial taxes department in J VAT has increased burden for the traders to a great extent.

He said that the implementation of new version ( Version II) of J VAT, registered dealers who had taken registration after October 18 are not able to login to the new version in the website of state commercial taxes department.

This apart, the new version the traders are finding difficulty in filing their monthly returns of sales and purchases.

The local traders demanded a complete change of the website and also to hold the Version II and instead implement it from April, 2015.

The SCCI president informed that they have also sent a letter to the commissioner of commercial taxes, M R Meena on Wednesday highlighting the plight of the traders due to the implementation of the new version.

A copy of the letter was also sent to the chief secretary, Sajal Chakraborty.
