Jamshedpur , Oct. 21: Chain smackers have once again become active in snatching gold-chain at Kadma locality as two incidents of chain-snatching have been reported with the Kadma thana in the past 24 hours since Thursday evening.
On Friday, two bike-borne criminals snatched away a gold chain from the neck of a 40-year-old woman near DBMS Kadma High School near Rankini Mandir on the busy Kadma Main Road.
The incident took place while the victim Preiti Verma was riding her scooter back home at Bhatia Bustee in Kadma at about 2.30 pm.
In an FIR lodged with the Kadma thana, Preiti has mentioned that she was returning home from Tata Main Hospital, having met her ailing mother who is admitted there.
“As I was crossing the Kadma Main Road, two bike-borne youths came from behind and snatched away my gold chain. As my vehicle was still in motion, I fell down as they snatched the gold chain and I could see from behind that the two were riding a yellow bike”.
Earlier, on Thursday evening, two bike-borne criminals snatched away the gold-chain from the neck of Shanti Devi from Kadma-Sonari Link Road under Kadma thana area. The victim who is wife of a retired Army man, Megha Singh, and resident of Lake View Colony at Ulyan in Kadma was sitting pillion on the bike of her son, Rajendra Singh as the incident took place.
Officer-in-charge, Kadma, Animesh Gupta confirmed about the two chain-snatching incidents in Kadma during the past 24 hours.
“We have received two complaints of chain-snatchings, one near DBMS Kadma High School on Kadma Main Road today and another on the Kadma-Sonari Link Road on Thursday.
We are trying to find out the criminals,” said Gupta. He said they are trying to obtain the CCTV footages for identifying the snatchers who are active.
