Jamshedpur, May 25: A one-day Kabaddi tournament was held on Sunday in memory of Brij Mangal Singh, featuring enthusiastic participation from both men’s and women’s teams across Jharkhand. The event witnessed ten men’s teams and seven women’s teams vying for top honours.
In the men’s category, teams from Ranchi district, Ranchi Day Boarding, Giridih, Bagbera, Sonari 11, Kadma 11, Adityapur 11, Mangal Singh Club, Jamshedpur 11, and Chaibasa took part. In the women’s division, the participating teams included Ranchi district, Jamshedpur 11, Chaibasa, Ranchi Day Boarding, Giridih, Kadma 11, and Mangal Singh Club.
The men’s teams of Chaibasa and Mangal Singh Club were declared joint winners, while Ranchi Day Boarding secured third place. In the women’s category, Ranchi district and Giridih shared the winner’s title, and Ranchi Day Boarding bagged third place.
The event was graced by Juna Akhara Mahant Shri Vidyanand Saraswati, MLA Saryu Roy, and event organizer Munna Singh, State Kabaddi Association President Tapan Kumar, and District Kabaddi Association President M.P. Singh.
The smooth conduct of the competition was ensured by officials Tilak Ram Sahu, Jaswant Kumar Sahu, Shiv Prasad Jungle, Laxmi Kumari, Basanti Mahato, Prem Kumar, Ajay Kumar, and Ramesh Kumar Sahu. The tournament was a fitting tribute to Brij Mangal Singh’s legacy.
