CBI should probe fire incident at Jharkhand Vidhan Sabha: Saryu Roy

Jamshedpur, Dec 5: Independent candidate from Jamshedpur East Saryu Roy Thursday demanded a CBI probe into the incident of fire inside the newly-constructed Jharkhand Assembly building. He said the incident smacked of a major scam in the construction of the Assembly building.

Addressing a press meet, Roy said, The new Vidhan Sabha building has not been handed over by the contractor, but the state government got it inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi six months ago. Till then, even three-fourth of construction work had not been completed. I had written to the PM as a state Cabinet minister and requested him not to inaugurate the new Assembly building citing incomplete work and discrepancies as reason. The building was constructed without taking environmental approval which is illegal as per CIA Notification 2006. The CM had committed an offence by getting the building inaugurated by the PM. It seems yesterdays fire was an act to paper over that offence which has caused great loss. It has also revealed that the contractor has not handed over the building to Vidhan Sabha.
