Sahibganj: In a significant development, the Ranchi CBI team conducted raids on Thursday at the residences of Pankaj Mishra, Dahu Yadav, and Pavitra Yadav in connection with an illegal mining case valued at Rs 1000 crore in Sahibganj district, Jharkhand. The CBI executed searches at Pankaj Mishra’s residence, located in Sahibganj SDO Kothi.
Pankaj Mishra, who had recently petitioned the Supreme Court to halt the CBI investigation into the illegal mining case, saw his plea rejected. Despite the setback, Mishra has secured a hearing scheduled for December 15 in the Supreme Court.
The controversy revolves around the Jharkhand High Court’s order for a CBI investigation into the Sahibganj illegal mining case. Pankaj Mishra challenged this order in the Supreme Court, and on Wednesday, a bench comprising Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice SVN Bhatt declined to stay the High Court’s directive. The case is now slated for its next hearing on December 15, as the CBI continues its probe into the alleged Rs 1000 crore illegal mining scandal in Sahibganj.
