Ranchi, February 6: The2023-24 budget session of Jharkhand Assembly will be held from 27 February.

During the session, the state government will present the budget for the financial year 2023-24 on  March 3.

Giving information to this effect, Jharkhand parliamentary affairs minister Alamgir Alam said that the budget session will continue till March 23. There will also be a holiday for Holi in the middle of the session. During the budget session, the government will also bring many important Bills. Before the budget, the third supplementary budget will also be brought for the current financial year.

The first day will set the tone for the rest of the session.

The Governor’s address will be held on the first day of the session. According to the information, the government can bring a Bill on the recruitment policy in the budget session. Apart from this, the bill regarding 1932 Khatiyan can also be brought in the House again. It may be known that the Governor has returned the 1932 based locality policy Bill passed in the special session of the Vidhansabha last year while the High Court had cancelled the recruitment policy of the government.

The Governor has called this Bill contrary to the constitutional provisions and the order of the Supreme Court. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that once again this Bill could be passed from the house. Significantly, the Jharkhand cabinet meeting is going to be held on February 9. Probably, a proposal to convene the budget session of the assembly will be passed in this cabinet.

Significantly, Chief Minister Hemant Soren participating in a pre-budget consultative exercise earlier this month talked about midterm review of the fund allocation to get a better outcome of the budget.

Chief Minister Soren said the midterm review will help proper fund management and the government can use the optimum utilisation of funds.

His words came after Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh during the consultation talked about the same, explaining the exercise helps cut the fund of the poor performing sector and divert it towards the good performing sector for better outcome of the budget.
