Bollywood heading for new genre of movies says John Abraham

: Bollywood actor-turned-producer John Abraham has said that the success of films like Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Madras Café has inspired the filmmakers to head for new genre of films which are not only entertaining but are also social relevant.

When questioned about the risk involved in producing such movies the actor said that he believes in to produce quality movies rather than aiming at the Rs 100 crore club.

Addressing a press conference at Loyola School, here on Saturday, where he is shooting his new film ‘Banana’ John, 41, who produced films like ‘Vicky Donor’ and recently critically acclaimed ‘Madras Cafe’, said: “ I think Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Madras Café were the most different and well made movies of the year. These movies have paved way for a new genre where people of all segment of the society are loving it.

Abraham was in the steel city for the last two days to shoot his next home production ‘Banana’. He refused to divulge much about the story line of the movie, but said his experience in Jamshedpur has been wonderful and he was impressed with the cleanliness and greenery of the city”.

He appreciated the hard work put up by debutant director Sajid Ali, a former student of Loyola School, said that it would attract audience of all age group.

Abraham, who is famous for picking up a usual subject and packaging it in an unusual fashion with all ingredients of a successful movie said that 70 per cent of the cast in the movie is from Jamshedpur itself and he was surprised to see the young talent in the city. He went on to add that that there is no dearth of talent in Jharkhand and there is only need to promote it.

The actor informed that the shooting of the movie was expected to be completed by December end and they were targeting to release it during the festive season.

Sources informed that Abraham was playing the role of a former Loyla student, who returned to the city matured and look back on past life.

Some students of DBMS English School, Loyola School have been selected following an audition and will play a role in the movie. Besides other, a school assembly scene was filmed in the Loyola school campus on Friday.

Meanwhile, the local police had a tough time controlling large people, who assembled outside the Loyola School gate since morning to have a glimpse of their Bollywood heart-throb and continued to till late afternoon.
