Jamshedpur, Nov 2: The inquiry team investigating the blood banks at Sadar Hospital and MGM Hospital has submitted its detailed report to the Health Department on Saturday. The re-inspection followed irregularities found during last week’s visit.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sahir Pal and Drug Inspector Abrar Alam conducted the inspection at the Sadar Hospital blood bank, thoroughly reviewing documents, test records and blood screening registers. Meanwhile, at MGM Hospital, the investigation was led by Dr. R. K. Mandhan and Assistant Director of the Drug Department, Gaurav Kumar.
The team closely examined the testing process and the kits being used. It was found that blood testing was being conducted using standard kits instead of ELISA kits. The officials immediately directed that all future blood tests must be performed only through ELISA kits to ensure accuracy and safety.
They also instructed MGM management to arrange additional ELISA kit supplies promptly to maintain blood quality and prevent any lapse in safety standards. Officials emphasized that the purpose of this inspection was to bring complete transparency and adherence to medical norms in blood bank operations. “The goal is to ensure that no patient faces any risk due to unsafe blood transfusions,” a health department source said. The department will now review the submitted report and decide on further actions.
